10.00 -11.00: Stephen Chambers: The Lancashire Fusiliers: Minden Men at Gallipoli. The story of this most famous regiment in the peninsula, from the landings to the evacuation,

11.00 -11.30: break

11.30 - 12.30: Paul Knight: The 42nd (East Lancashire) Division in Gallipoli. From mobilisation to the Third Battle of Krithia: the first Territorial division to be sent overseas,12.30 – 1.15: Lunch (not provided – information will be provided on local facilities)

1.15 – 1.30: Community Project 1: John Rodgers: The Rochdale Fusiliers

1.30 – 2.30: Peter Hart: The Royal Naval Division: How Churchill’s (& Peter’s) favourite division fared in the ill- fated campaign,

2.30 – 3.30: Michael Crane: The Final Offensive Actions of the 42nd Division at Gallipoli. Focussing on two diversionary attacks, on 19th December 1915, carried out by the Lancashire Fusiliers, the East Lancs and the Manchesters,

3.30 – 3.45: Community Project 2: Graham Walker; The Story of Billy Unsworth (possibly in song!)

Stephen Chambers: Trustee and GA Historian, Steve is an accomplished (and accredited) tour guide and prolific author. His most recent work is Walking Gallipoli, published earlier this year.

Michael Crane: Mike saw active service with the Paras and was mentioned in despatches. He has studied the campaign for over 40 years and visited the peninsula on many occasions. He is currently working on using GPS for locating and recording trench lines.

Peter Hart: an internationally renowned historian and prolific author, including highly regarded works on the campaign. He is also an accomplished tour guide. Until recently Peter was the Oral Historian at the IWM, spending much of his life recording the memories of many who served in WW1.

Paul Knight: is a Major in the Army Reserve he previously commanded 33 Signal Squadron which included 842 Troop, descended from 42nd Divisional Signal Company which served at Gallipoli. He is currently posted to the Land Warfare Centre in Warminster. Until recently he was WW1 commemorations project officer for the army in the North West. He has led tours to Gallipoli.

John Rodgers: John saw active service in Northern Ireland with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. He is very active in his local Fusiliers Association and has led a very successful community history project on Gallipoli in Rochdale.

Graham Walker: Graham served with the King’s Regiment and once in civvie street began researching the life of Billy Unsworth, a local lad who was killed in Gallipoli. He has written and performed a song about him which has been featured on local radio. He is currently leading a community history project based around the production of a book on Billy.
