HISTORIAN MEETS DIRECTORATE OF THE GALLIPOLI HISTORICAL SITE

Earlier in the month Gallipoli Association historian Stephen Chambers met İsmail Kaşdemir and his team at the Imperial War Museum in London. İsmail Kaşdemir is the Chairman of the Turkish Directorate of Gallipoli Historical Site (Çanakkale Savaşları Gelibolu), the official name for what was the Gallipoli National Park. They manage the battlefield sites of Anzac, Helles and Suvla, under the authority of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

It was a good meeting where all things were talked about, in particular tourism, battlefield education, conferences and of course the Gallipoli Campaign. It is important for the Association to grow our links with our Turkish friends and like-minded organisations, so this promises to be a valuable new relationship for the future.
