COMMEMORATION AT THE 29th DIVISION MEMORIAL
The annual commemoration at the 29th Division Memorial, Stretton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire will take place at 11.45am for 12.00 noon on Sunday 12 March 2017 when a wreath will be laid on behalf of the Gallipoli Association. Wreaths will also be laid by representatives of other organisations, and by individuals. The commemoration marks the date in March 1915 when some 16,000 officers and men of the newly formed division paraded before King George V, and soon after left for overseas service at Gallipoli.
The memorial is in the centre of a large roundabout on the A45, at the junction with the B4455, about 5 miles east of Coventry (grid reference SP 415733).
There will also be a short ‘bugle’ event at 11 00 AM in the nearby village of Wollaston.
Please Note: As mentioned above, the memorial is situated in the centre of a roundabout on the A45. This is a busy road and it will be necessary to cross it to get to the memorial. Anyone that wishes to attend the commemoration will be responsible for his or her own safety and will be solely responsible for any claims or matters that may arise out of any injury, loss or damage suffered by the party or any one in their charge, in connection with their visit, and the Gallipoli Association will not be held responsible for any matter, injury, loss or damage that may arise.
